Welcome to the new Positive Production website and blog!
Erykah Badu Special Live in Japan ’10 was an AMAZING success!
Both ZEPP TOKYO and Yokohama Bay Hall Shows were packed to the brim and
Ms. Badu and her sensational band put together 2 memorable shows for her amazing fans.
It was an amazing experience to work with Ms. Badu and her crew.
They were very down-to-earth and professional.
The band and DJ were unbelievable but the Production Crew also deserves some major kudos.
Without them, the show never would have turned out as great as it did.
Some interesting Tidbits from the tour:
- The bassist, Stephen Bruner, LOVES Japan.
He has a jacket with a Hanshin Tigers patch on it. On stage, he wore a “Gundam” style vest.
On the day of his flight back, he told me, “Man…I’m so sad I’m leaving…seriously.”
“Before I leave, I need to get a “Kenshiro” T-Shirt. (Referring to the character from the anime Hokuto no Ken.
- Rashad Smith aka Tumblin Dice, Erykah Badu’s DJ, is a world-renowned producer.
He has produced tracks for Notorious B.I.G., Busta Rhymes and LL Cool J among others.
He is also a huge fan of Japan and ended up buying his 3 year old son an “An Pan Man” toy that he knows
“My son will swing this around and break it as soon as he gets it.”
Well, as long as he has fun during the process right?!
- Erykah Badu performed as a DJ at 57 in Roppongi for her Album Release/V.I.P. Party.
She may be the only person that can put on “YMCA” and get the crowd bumping.
- Ms. Badu received a dress as a gift from a fan at the Album Release party
and ended up wearing it at the ZEPP TOKYO show!!
The fan herself told me, “I cried as soon as she stepped on stage.”

2010 is a new and exciting year with a focus on CHANGE.
Yes Obama has created a CHANGE movement,
and the reality is, businesses and people alike will be in a new transition from last year.
2009 was one of the most difficult years, financially, in the history of the world.
But those who are successful will change accordingly.
In Japanese it would be (臨機応変 Rinki-Ouhenn).
There was a time and place for “not fixing what’s not broken.”
But this is not a time to sit back and let our stubbornness rule our actions.
In 2010, business and business philosophy will change.
For things to stabilize again, we will all be responsible for changing in our own way.
For those of you who have followed Positive Production for 17 years,
